Welcome to Hope Haven!

It's 2023!
A year of Jubilee!

Happy New Year!

We are so appreciative of everyone's love, support, and interest in the Sanctuary!

We had such a fun and vibrant time with you this past season that we are now making many plans for an incredible 2023. We're calling it our year of Jubilee and hope you all will come celebrate our animals and embrace the joy of a compassionate farm. The Sanctuarty is currently closed for the winter but will be reopening our barn doors in May of the new year.

Interested in volunteering?

We are currently developing an integrative volunteer program, but it is challenging with no full-time staff available to work with volunteers. Therefore, we ask all interested individuals be able to commit two shifts a week at the farm. Volunteer shifts are generally weekdays in the later afternoons. Since the folks running the Sanctuary also have full-time jobs we can only offer volunteer hours when they are available. The minimum age requirement to volunteer on-site at the farm is 18 years old.

We understand it is difficult to make long term commitments to volunteering. If you only have a day or two to help out we would love for you to attend a monthly "open" volunteer days! On these days you can come lend a hand for a few hours with no further commitment. These open days will be advertised on our Facebook and Instagram pages so please follow us there!

We offer no volunteer opportunities during the winter months but if you are interested please complete the application and we will contact you when volunteer shifts start in the spring of '23. We have a new volunteer application on our volunteer page. Check it out!

Guess what?! We are looking for a BIGGER HOME!!!

Can you help us find a larger piece of property to expand the Sanctuary? We want to save more lives and strengthen our commitment to YOU by offering more on-site events and programs. We are working with a wonderful realtor but today's market is tough and the more eyes and ears we have out there the better! If you know of any farms for sale with these qualities, PLEASE contact Karen @ 412-366-1187 (text or call) or send us a message here:

* 20 acres or more

* Preferably with barns, outbuildings, fencing, and pond

* House(s) on site - fixer uppers are a-ok!

* Located within 20-30 minutes of Wexford, PA

Much love and hugs,

Karen and the Haven animals

Hope Haven is a 501(c)3 non-profit farm animal sanctuary nestled in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. Our mission is to rescue neglected pigs, goats, sheep, llama, donkey, alpaca, emu, and all farm birds. These animals have been surrendered at local animal shelters, confiscated by local humane agents and police, or saved from factory farms. They now live out their lives with comfortable housing, nutritious food, and companionship from others of their own kind. They also receive endless love and affection from the human components of the sanctuary!

Hope Haven is also a resource to raise public awareness about the plight of animals raised for human use. Here at the farm we promote a cruelty-free, plant-based lifestyle. Rather than focusing on the horrors and cruelty inherent in factory farming we want to showcase the individuality and personality of farm animals. Our hope is that when people realize these animals are sentient beings deserving of compassion they will make up their own minds to respect life and adopt a cruelty-free lifestyle.

Meet the animals

If you like what you see please donate to help these ambassadors for farm animals everywhere. We appreciate everything you do to help animals, spread compassion, and make this a more joyful world to live in. Thank you!
